From employee to owner, Kevin Bertram has built Steve’s Mobile Security Doors with vision and dedication. After working for years under Steve at Steve’s Mobile Screendoors – Kevin purchased the security door division in 2018 and made it his own.
Recently, he and his wife Emily achieved a major milestone by purchasing a building near their home with help from the SBA 504 program and a local community bank. The location, once a 1960s gas station and later home to well-known sign companies, now serves as the headquarters for their growing business.
“Buying this building takes long-term pressure off,” Kevin says.”It’s a retirement plan, a long-term investment, and a place we can truly call our own.” Plans for the space include office renovations, a showroom, and added security features. Kevin’s advice for fellow entrepreneurs? “Ask questions, connect with others who’ve done it, and don’t be afraid.”
Through the purchase of their new building, the company can now stabilize occupancy costs, expand their showroom, hire additional employees, and potentially qualify for New Market Tax Credits. This strategic move not only supports their continued success but also contributes to job creation within the local community.
