Elizabeth “EJ” Jones has shared far more than leadership with Success Capital, she has shared wisdom shaped by a lifetime of service, family, and community. Serving on the Success Capital Board since 1998 and Chairperson from 2019-2024, EJ leads with intention, integrity, and a deep commitment to people.
One belief guides much of her life: “In life, there are ways of getting almost anywhere you want to go – if you really want to go.” For EJ, progress begins with choice – choosing to engage, to care, and to act. That mindset shaped how she raised her five sons, involving them in volunteering and service, and continues today as a proud grandmother of six and great-grandmother to twins!
EJ often reminds us, “You get out of relationships what you put into them,” a principle she lives through decades of community involvement. Her service includes work with Habitat for Humanity, where she has seen firsthand how housing stability, education, and personal responsibility can transform lives. Through Habitat’s model of sweat equity and education, families are not only building homes, but they are also building confidence, skills, and opportunity.
Professionally, EJ is known for her diverse and impactful career, including serving as Executive Vice President of the Economic Development Company of Tuolumne County, where she played a key role in attracting new businesses and opportunities to the region.
Grounded in honesty and purpose, EJ believes that “Trust is built on telling the truth – not telling people what they want to hear,” and often reflects on the wisdom of Ernest Hemingway: “Never mistake motion for action.”
We are grateful for EJ’s wisdom, heart, and steady leadership, and for the example she continues to set in strengthening communities and empowering others – [one relationship and one family at a time]!
