The Success Capital blog

Zack Phonesavanh, Lender & Board Member

A passion for helping businesses succeed, deep Central Valley roots, and a goal that could take him all the way to Japan.

For Zack Phonesavanh, helping local businesses grow has been a part of his career for more than 25 years. His banking journey began in 2000 at Citibank, where he served as a Business Banking Officer covering the Central Valley. Working closely with business owners sparked his interest in commercial lending and set the foundation for a successful career.

Zack’s relationship with Success Capital goes back to his years at Wells Fargo, when he first partnered with our team under the leadership of Susan Martin. He quickly recognized the value of SBA 504 financing as another way to help business owners achieve their goals, particularly those looking to purchase commercial real estate while preserving their working capital.

As Zack shared during our conversation, he wouldn’t have nearly as many SBA loans without his partnership with Success Capital.

Today, Zack serves as Vice President and Modesto Commercial Center Manager at Citizens Business Bank. As both a lending partner and a member of Success Capital’s Board of Directors, he continues to champion SBA 504 financing, educating his team and helping them identify opportunities to provide local businesses with the financing they need to grow and succeed.

In Zack’s words,

“It’s just another tool for us to be able to deploy to our clients.”

Central Valley Roots, World Cup Dreams

A Merced native, Zack attended local schools before heading to Stanislaus State, where he played collegiate soccer. He later earned his MBA from LSU, but the Central Valley has always remained home.

Outside of banking, Zack enjoys golfing, hiking, camping, and spending time outdoors. He and as two daughters who have both graduated from college and are now pursuing their own paths.

But there’s something particularly exciting happening in Zack’s life right now!

A lifelong soccer player, Zack continues to compete and has been invited to participate in the U.S. Men’s Senior Soccer Program. He’s currently working toward earning one of just 22 roster spots for the Senior World Cup in Japan. With upcoming training camps and tournaments, he’s hoping to secure his place on the team.

Whether he’s helping a business owner purchase a building or competing on the soccer field, Zack brings dedication and enthusiasm to everything he does.

We’re grateful for his years of partnership, his service on our Board of Directors, and his continued commitment to helping Central Valley businesses succeed.

And Zack, we’ll be cheering you on as you pursue that World Cup dream!
